MY CAREER RELATED EDUCATION
At Wallenpaupack Area High School, we are given the rare opportunity to take a class entitled "Virtual Business". This class is exactly what it sounds like, a class dedicated to starting and running a virtual business. Our business will complete virtual sales throughout the school year and cap off the year with a trip to New York City to the Virtual Trade Fair. At this Trade Fair, we will be competing against other Virtual Businesses from schools not just from our country, but from other ones all over the world.
This class is a wonderful opportunity for any aspiring businessman or woman. I believe this will help me in my pursuit of a job in the marketing field because I have been and will continue to work as a marketing employee for a company all year long. Even though it may be virtual, the work that goes into our tasks and assignments is all real, and has given me an inside look at a marketing profession.

Paupack Blueberry Farm
Our class decided to partner with our local blueberry farm, Paupack Blueberry Farm and call our company Berry Unlimited. We plan to use the Farm's berries to create a variety of berry products to sell to fellow virtual businesses.
Pictured above is a screenshot of our Berry Unlimited Website. I was put in charge of being the chief designer and editor of the website. This was a lot more difficult of a job than I had thought it would be. Creating descriptions for each of our products and learning to use Weebly weren't the easiest tasks in the world, but I am quite satisfied with the end result. Feel free to click the "Website" button above and check out the Berry Unlimited Website!

Marketing Department
On the first day of class, our teacher surprised us with an interview. This interview would determine what department we would be placed in for the duration of the year. I was placed in the Marketing Department, along with two other girls (pictured above). Our task was to create a website for our company, holiday promotions, emails to send out to other companies, and advertisements of our products. All of these tasks are very similar to what is asked of real live Marketing Employees.
The Company

Working with some of my classmates and friends in a work environment is an interesting, yet worthwhile experience. The class has taught me more about what it means to be a team player and how to resolve conflict. Thanks to Virtual Business, I feel much more confident with pursuing a business related career, more specifically marketing. I feel as though I have the creativity skills to excel in this area.
